Mr. Crispin Simon
NEW BRITISH DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR WESTERN INDIA ANNOUNCED AS CRISPIN SIMON.
To also hold role of Director General for Trade, Economics and Commercial Diplomacy with overall responsibility for the UK-India economic and commercial relationship.
Succeeding Kumar Iyer, based in Mumbai, Mr Simon will take up his position on November 2. As Deputy High Commissioner Western Region he will have responsibility for all aspects of diplomatic engagement in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa. As Director General of the Department for International Trade, he will lead on delivering a strong and vibrant trade and investment relationship across India and the rest of South Asia.
Crispin Simon comes to India from the UK with extensive leadership and commercial experience across both the private and public sectors. After initial spells with NM Rothschild, McKinsey, Bowater and Smith and Nephew, Mr Simon spent 20 years as Chief Executive of medical technology companies operating in the fields of cardiology, cancer and neurological rehabilitation. Mr Simon has a degree in Politics and Economics from Lincoln College, University of Oxford.
On his posting, Mr Simon said: "I am delighted with my appointment and the prospect of living in India. I'm eager to utilise my experience in the corporate world and with the British government's Trade department, to take the India-UK business relationship to the highest possible level. It is an exciting time to live and work in India: with its boundless energy, talent and potential. My wife and I are eager to build new friendships, travel extensively, and absorb the rich Indian culture and heritage."
Crispin has a keen interest in cricket, the theatre and loves dogs. He is married to Georgina Brown, renowned writer and theatre critic. They have two children.
